In our Winter 2024 issue, our Editor was delighted to talk to renowned Italian floral master Vincenzo Antonuccio.

Vincenzo’s road to floral design was a pretty natural one as his father, Carmelo Antonuccio, represented Italy at the Tokyo Interflora World Cup in 1989 and is often referred to as the founder of Italian floral art, so flowers were, and are, most definitely in Vincenzo’s blood too.
Although saying that, Vincenzo studied architecture and achieved a Diploma in Architecture and Furniture in 1994 so interior design was first on the agenda.
However, in 1995 he joined his father in founding the floral art school Laboratorio Idee in which he became responsible for its creative development, eventually becoming a teacher there in 1998.
From 2001 onwards, he has been an international floral art teacher, including teaching the International Course of Floral Designers at the Atelier-5 School in Switzerland as well as lecturing in Space Design (a course he coined).
In addition to his floral work, Vincenzo continues to hold various positions in product design.
Between 2008 to 2013, he was made Art Director of VGnewtrend, a world leading company in luxury design and furnishing accessories, for whom he designed numerous successful collections which were then presented in showrooms around the world well as well as at trade fairs.
In 2014 he became the Artistic Director of Brummel Interiors, a company operating in the high-end range of luxury kitchens and furniture, where he took care of their product design and company image. In 2015, he joined the Designers of Visionnaire, a well-known and prestigious furniture company of the Cavalli family specialising in extra-luxury glamour. And since 2016 he has been the Creative Director of the Luxia by Bocchio brand where he looks after their product collections and company image.
In 2019, at the Philadelphia Flower Show, Vincenzo reached the peak of his floral career; having been appointed to represent his country, he took Italy into the top 10 for the first time in its Interflora World Cup history. He came 8th — an extraordinary achievement — and something he is immensely proud of.
And continuing in the floral sector, in 2020, Vincenzo became the TV face of Mediaset, the largest commercial broadcaster in Italy and also La7, a free-to-air television channel; with both, he helps to promote flowers far and wide.
Not one to rest on his laurels, since 2021, Vincenzo has been the Artistic Director of Ale-Import, a company specialising in furnishing accessories, vases and containers, and it is here that his creativity, product research and design is giving the company such an innovative edge.
With such strong skillsets both in floral art and interior design, it is little wonder that Vincenzo’s floral work is highly lauded the world over. And happily, as he continues to share his passion be it at workshops, online or in the classroom his fan base just keeps on growing.
