Tour de France Femmes

Today, the third edition of the Tour de France Femmes kicked off in Rotterdam and in collaboration with the Flower Council of Holland, forty Dutch flower and plant growers have collaborated to create a breathtaking 1,000 m² mosaic along the racecourse in the Westland greenhouse horticulture area.

This beautiful artwork, depicting Mien van Bree—an unsung hero of Dutch women’s cycling—honours the trailblazers who fought for recognition in the sport. The mosaic is a powerful ode to her and other cycling icons, such as Keetie van Oosten-Hage, who have paved the way for today’s female cycling athletes.

The Dutch floriculture sector, much like these cycling pioneers, thrives on innovation and perseverance. With a turnover of 11.5 billion euros in 2023, it continues to play a crucial role in the global economy while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint. This tribute not only celebrates the sport’s history but also highlights the creativity and significance of the floral industry.
