Here’s a cheerful table centre perfect for a late summer gathering created by Nina Tucknott using air drying clay and test tubes as the mechanics.
Ingredients
1x slab air drying clay
Rolling pin
Chopping board
10x acrylic/glass test tubes
Long nozzled watering bottle
Triticum aestivum (dried wheat)
Lavandula (dried lavender)
Rosa ‘Mariah Superstar’
Allium ‘Gladiator’
Astrantia ‘Billion Stars’
Astilbe ‘Washington’
Clematis ‘Amazing Rome’
Ammi majus
Step by Step
Step 1
Roll out the clay to a rectangle of about a 2cm thickness (at this stage, I pressed some loose lavender to the sides of the clay).
Step 2
Press the test tubes into the clay in a pleasing pattern.
Step 3
Create a ring of dried material around each test tube.
Step 4
Leave to dry for at least 48 hours.
Step 5
Add water to your test tubes and then add your summery flowers.
