The 2026 Iconic Hydrangea World Challenge is now open, inviting floral designers around the world to celebrate the beauty and versatility of one of floristry’s most beloved blooms. Held under the theme “Iconic Flower, Iconic Floristry,” the challenge encourages participants to showcase the expressive potential of hydrangeas — from their impressive flower heads and rich colour palette to their remarkable adaptability across contemporary and timeless floral styles.

Beyond creative recognition, the challenge offers participants tangible industry benefits, including global visibility through Master Florist’s platforms, opportunities for future collaborations and exclusive features, and valuable connections within the floral trade — including potential grower visits. Prizes include up to €250 worth of hydrangeas for the best photo design entry, and €100 worth of hydrangeas for a standout video submission.

To participate, designers are invited to create a floral design that captures the iconic essence of hydrangeas and share it on social media using the hashtag #HydrangeaWorldDesign2026, tagging @hydrangeaworldflowercreations and @MasterFlorist on both Facebook and Instagram. Entries may also be submitted by email to floristmedia@gmail.com.
Building on a Strong Legacy
Last year’s 2025 Iconic Hydrangea World Challenge demonstrated the remarkable breadth of creative interpretation that hydrangeas can inspire. Entries ranged from romantic pastel arrangements to bold contemporary statements, with designers exploring sculptural forms, striking colour combinations, and imaginative floral techniques across bouquets, installations, and artistic compositions. The challenge confirmed why hydrangeas remain a firm favourite among florists worldwide, and this year’s edition is expected to raise the bar even further.
The 2026 challenge also builds on the momentum of the successful Hydrangea World 2024 sampling project, a collaboration with Master Florist that invited designers across key European markets to work with a diverse assortment of fresh and classic hydrangeas. The campaign reached nearly two million people across Master Florist’s social media channels, generating strong engagement and positive feedback from florists who appreciated the variety, the ease of the ordering process, and the creative flexibility the blooms offered.
